Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan-I Slated for 2022

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Karthi have shared the poster of director Mani Ratnam’s most-anticipated multi-starrer and multi-lingual film, Ponniyin Selvan in social media
The grand poster features a heavily stylised sword and a shield decorated with the head of a roaring tiger, the symbol of the Chola kingdom. The film is based on a legendary Tamil novel of the same name by late writer Kalki. It narrates the story of Arulmozhi Varman and the Chola dynasty.
Unveiling the poster, Lyca Productions wrote: “The golden era comes to life!.” The film is set to release in two parts and the first part will release in 2022. Actor Karthi, one of the lead actors of the movie, has also tweeted this on his page.
The film will feature Amitabh Bachchan as Old Sundara Chozha, Aishwarya Rai as Nandini, Aditi Rao Hydari as Vanathi, Sobhita Dhulipala as Manimegalai, Trisha as Kundavai, Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Aishwarya Lekshmi as Poonguzhali, Karthi as Vandiyadevan, Prakash Raj as Malayamaan, Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhivarman, Kishore as Idumbankari, Lal as Ravidasan, Jayaraman as Azhwarkadiyan Nambi, Rahman as Periya Vellalar, Sarath Kumar as Young Sundara Chozha, Sara Arjun as Child Nandini, Vikram Prabhu as Senthan Amudhan, Parthiban as Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, Rajsekhar Aningi as Thyaga Vidangar, Prabhu as Anirudha Bhramarayar, Riyaz Khan as Soman Sambavaan, Ashwin Kakumau as Kandamaran, Master Raghavan as Arulmozhivarman, Nizhalgal Ravi as Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar, Balaji Sakthivel as Kadamboor Sambuvaraiyar, Arjun Chidambaram as Partthibendra Pallavan, Shyam Fernando as Pinagapaani, Mohan Raman as Kudanthai Jothidar.
The film has cinematography by Ravi Varman, editing by A Sreekar Prasad and art direction by Thota Tharani. Eka Lakhani is in-charge of costumes.
The movie, which is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam under his home banner Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions, has musical score by A R Rahman.
